My dog Won't stop Scratching!

Fleas are the most common parasite that can affect your dog at any time of the year.

Fleas can cause severe irritation to your dog if not treated quickly and effectively.

Many dogs are actually highly allergic to a flea's saliva, a condition called 'Flea Allergy dermatitis' or FAD and can develop a persistent itch from just one flea bite.

The best products to treat persistent itch from fleas are: Comfortis or Capstar. (We recommend using one or the other – not both together)

Comfortis is a chewable tablet that kills the fleas on your dog or cat within 30 minutes and last for an entire month. It needs to be given regularly at monthly intervals, with a full meal, however is unable to be used in dogs with a history of Epilepsy.

Capstar is a great ‘booster’ to combine with your current monthly flea treatment such as Advantix, Frontline Plus or Sentinel Spectrum. Each tablet lasts 24 hours and kills the fleas on your pet within 30 minutes.

Capstar can be used in conjunction with other ‘spot on’ or internal products to help increase the speed at which the adult fleas die. For Example, whilst many spot on products are effective at killing fleas, they can take up to 12 hours to provide efficacy. Capstar given alongside these treatments can speed up this process and provide almost immediate results for both the dog and the owner.

Capstar can be safely given daily for 6 consecutive days (in a bad case) but may only need to be given for the first 2 – 3 days for the problem to fixed.
